:: The Latest Headlines

   We want to thank all our fans for being patient while we rebuilt the Voodoo Air Racing web site. It is still a work in progress and we will be adding new and old content to the site as the race season continues.

    During last years Sunday Gold race we had to pull out before we finished the race. Will Whiteside did a great job racing Voodoo all week and during the may-day. We used 4 cockpit cameras to capture much of the racing. Jason Schillereff  has shared much of this video on Vimeo.com. We will be linking the videos to our web site and adding some new videos again as we get close to September racing.

The smoke that was seen in the video and the reason for the may-day was a cracked piston that burned (See Photo to the Right). The damage was contained in the one cylinder was we were able to rebuild the engine with some new and we hope stronger pistons. We have one of the race engines assembled and ready to test on the stand and in Voodoo in the next couple of months. The second race engine is being assembled now and will be tested prior to September.

    Many of you know that we have removed the wing on Voodoo and here is the reason why. The crew has found that the landing gear, doors and tanks needed some preventative maintenance so they decided the best way to complete this was to remove the wing and send it to a shop for rebuilding. During this time we are having new tanks built to install in the wings. After all this work the wing will be repainted and put back on the fuselage.

    All of this work has allowed us the time and access to making sure everything fits tight with a minimum amount of drag.

    Our plan for this year is to have two reliable engines and a cleaner airframe for race week.
